New Brochure: When labour starts… Early labour is a normal part of the birth process
We are so proud of our new patient handout “When labour starts… Early labour is a normal part of the birth process” that it’s going up on our fridge! If you are expecting, it should be up on yours too. We think it’s a great quick reference for labouring moms and their support people. Let us know what you think!
The handout answers these important questions:
- What is early labour?
- What does early labour feel like?
- What can I do for comfort in early labour?
- What can I do if I need more help coping with contractions?
- When should I call my doctor or midwife?
- What are some examples of labour positions?
Early labour is when irregular contractions begin to occur, and your cervix softens, shortens and prepares to open. Early labour can last many hours and is a normal part of the birthing process.
The Early Labour brochure is available in the following languages:
- When Labour Starts (in English)
- When Labour Starts (in Simplified Chinese)
- When Labour Starts (in Traditional Chinese)
- When Labour Starts (in Punjabi)
