Who We Are
The Power to Push Campaign was created by the BC Women’s Hospital Cesarean Task Force. The Task Force consists of obstetricians, midwives, family doctors, nurses, researchers and other medical professionals at BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre who are committed to supporting women’s choices in maternity and helping them have the best birth possible.
The Task Force was established at BC Women’s in response to the recommendations from two reports addressing the rising cesarean birth rate in British Columbia: the Cesarean Birth in BC Consensus Panel Statement (Jan 2008) and the BCPHP Cesarean Birth Task Force Report (Feb 2008). The role of the Task Force is to develop and implement strategies that ensure the optimal use of cesarean birth at BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre and throughout the province.
